Australia Sees 56% Increase of Immigrants Becoming New Citizens

Australian Immigration Agency: Immigrants

Face-to-face ceremonies are resuming in Australia, so that new citizens can take the oath in person

Over 179,000 people have obtained Australian citizenship this year, an increase of 56 percent from the same period a year ago. The latest figures show that over 80,000 people are awaiting citizenship. All citizenship ceremonies have been conducted online since the pandemic began, but now councils can choose to conduct the services online, in-person, or both. Acting Immigration Minister Alan Tudge reported the Australian government is currently working to resume citizenship interviews and testing in the upcoming weeks. We can have people in all stages of becoming Australian citizens.

Council meetings will be conducted in line with requirements the government has set for the general public, said Mr. Tudge. Online ceremonies will continue for councils who can’t host events safely due to the size of the group. Online ceremonies will also be hosted by The Department of Home Affairs for anyone not about to attend an in-person ceremony. Relocating to a new country can be an overwhelming process.

Working with the Australia Immigration Agency will make the process much less stressful. Their team helps individuals and families to immigrate to Australia as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will be guided from start to finish through the immigration procedure and all of your questions will be answered.
