Foreign Pharmacists Can Now Apply for Fast-Track Visas to Australia

Australia Immigration Agency - Pharmacists at Work

As Australia is pushing the vaccine rollout, the government is offering fast-track visas for foreign pharmacists. The occupation has been added to the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List, which lists priority Australian visa processing.

The report comes as thousands of pharmacies across the nation are joining the vaccine rollout to help accelerate the vaccination rates. Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said as thousands of pharmacies in communities across Australia have been invited to join the vaccine rollout, it’s all hands-on deck as the COVID-19 vaccine push continues.

The new Australian visa categories include industrial pharmacist, retail pharmacist, and hospital pharmacist. These three pharmacist categories will have priority Australian visa processing.

As of July 2021, a little more than 16 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated, with about 11 million vaccines being given across Australia. The country’s rollout has faced delays due to the limited number of Pfizer doses, along with changes in medical advice over the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Australian government says additional pharmacies are about to join the rollout as the demand is on the rise for vaccinations due to the risk posed by the different variants emerging.
